The foundation for StratMicrofinance was established in 2004 when Carla Edite Vieira came to Nepal on a program organised by Global Crossroads with the aim of educating and empowering women to take up an entrepreneurial activity. It soon became apparent that the concept could be optimised, so that more people could benefit from activities targeting poverty alleviation. As a consequence she initiated and co-founded StratMicrofinance, an NGO combining the concept of microfinance with the traditional approach to development management.
Based on research and personal experiences Carla developed a concept that accelerates the promotion of microfinance at grassroots level, by leveraging project benefits to a bigger proportion of potential benefactors. StratMicrofinance focuses on developing and applying strategies to development management that ensure the promotion of microfinance projects, by harnessing the involvement of as many potential project benefactors as possible. StratMicrofinance’s long term goal is to find ways for a fruitful and mutually beneficial collaboration between national and foreign entrepreneurs and women microfinance groups.
Today StratMicrofinance is incorporated under HECAC in Nepal as a Charity and managed by Bishnu Subedi. Our team members all have a background in development management and a vast experience in running development management projects.
