About Us

StratMicrofinance Nepal was set up to promote an approach to microfinance that encourages the deprived to find self-sustainable sources of income, especially so women, who make up the biggest proportion of the poorest strata of the population. Longitudinal studies have proven that women are more inclined to spend their resources on schooling for children, and we hence hope that by promoting our approach the literacy rate amongst the poor will increase, which in turn opens up a way for the deprived to escape the vicious circle of poverty.

StratMicrofinance is registered under the charity Himalyan Environmental and Cultural Awareness Centre, a subsidiary of Nature Trail Trekking, Nepal. StratMicrofinance is managed by Bishnu Subedi. The ideological founder of StratMicrofinance is Carla Edite Vieira, who volunteers as a strategy advisor to the management team.
